For the third month in a row, Sweden's sporting goods retail sales fell by more than ten percent compared with last year during the month of March. According to HUI, they were off by 11.8 percent as compared to the same month of 2016. During January and February, the rate of decline was 10.6 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively, which can largely be explained by lack of snow and the mild weather. However, the weather in March was not bad enough to explain a decline of over ten percent. The results are also difficult to justify when comparing them with the decline of one percent for the Swedish retail sector as a whole during the month. Swedish customers are clearly spending their money on other things than sporting goods right now.
