Fourlis Group achieved a sales increase of 10.2 percent to €122.4 million for its sporting goods retail business last year. This comprises Intersport stores in Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. The Ebitda for sports retailing was up by 43.2 percent to €10.8 million and pre-tax profit reached €4.3 million, against a loss of €1.8 million in 2013. The group runs 45 stores in Greece, 27 in Romania, 5 in Bulgaria, 22 in Turkey and 4 in Cyprus. This amounts to 103 Intersport stores compared with 91 at the end of 2013 and the group intends to open six more this year. Fourlis added that it wanted to open two Athlete's Foot stores in Greece and two in Turkey this year. The group previously stated it wanted to open 50 such stores in eight years. The entire Fourlis group, which comprises Ikea and other stores, chalked up sales of €413.4 million last year, up by 2.5 percent. Its net loss widened to €11.5 million, compared with €8.3 million in 2013.
