FPS, the French sporting goods retailers' federation, has modified its statutes to welcome vendors as well, with the same rights to its multiple services. Pierre Gogin, executive chairman of FPS, has been advocating for many years a merger with Fifas, the French sporting goods industry federation, but the latter has insisted on remaining independent. Gogin recently pulled out of Fedas, the European sporting goods retailers' federation, because he could not obtain its merger with Fesi, the European sporting goods industry federation. FPS provides its members with a lot of statistical information and with legal advice on retail - a useful aspect for the growing number of brands that are setting up their own stores.
