Frédéric Basse has stepped down after nine years as president at Eurosima, the association representing the board sports industry in Europe. The co-founder and former executive general manager of Rip Curl Europe chaired Eurosima's general meeting for the last time on May 27 in Anglet. The current general manager of Rip Curl Europe, Wilco Prins, took over his place at the meeting for an initial mandate of one year, representing the new generation of 30-40-year-olds. A new board was elected, and it has selected two new companies, Base de Pop and S-Wings, for its mentoring scheme. This year, Eurosima will focus on its “Ecoride” program, which encourages board sports companies to become more aware of environmental management, eco-design and social engagement. Nine companies have received its Ecoride label this time including Bic Sport, Notox, Pride, Verkor and Volcom. Over 120 brands and 60 manufacturing and service companies are currently members of Eurosima.
