French customs authorities seized 1,200 fake Spain Euro 2016 jerseys and shorts in Dunkirk, in northern France, on June 6. The fake kits were found in a truck traveling from the U.K. during an inspection at the Eurotunnel site. The driver presented the agents commercial documents on the transportation of assorted goods of Chinese origin, but in the middle of the consignment, customs officers noticed the presence of a box without any markings on it, where they found the counterfeit Spanish football team kits. According to customs authorities, the value of the counterfeit goods is estimated at nearly €150,000. In 2015 alone, the French customs seized €7.7 million worth of counterfeit goods. The Euro 2016 football championship started on June 10 and will conclude on July 10.
