French people like running. According to a study by Kantar Media and Uniteam Active, conducted for a French bank, Caisse d'Epargne, around 5.9 million French people aged over 15 - 3.9 million men and 2 million women - run either regularly or occasionally. Of them, 1.5 million took part in a running competition in 2012. Two-thirds of the running population train between two and four times a week, running each time between one and one and a half hours. By age group, the highest number of runners are over 50, with a share of 30.2 percent of the total. The breakdown for other age groups is 21.6 percent for those aged 15-24, 20.7 percent for the 25-34-year-olds, and 27.6 percent for the 35-49-year age group.
