French sporting goods retailers enjoyed a 1.2 percent increase in their sales during the third quarter. Year-on-year, their sales grew by 5 percent in July and by 3 percent in August but fell by 6 percent in September, according to FPS, the French sporting goods retailers' federation. The bicycle dealers' sales went up by one percent in volume in the quarter, with increases of 5 percent for adult mountain bikes and 21 percent for city bikes and folding bikes, but they were flat in value.
