A specialty retailer until now, Fútbol Emotion is branching out into a new sport – indeed, new sports. As we’ve learned through Diffusion Sport, CEO and co-owner Carlos Sánchez has detailed the plan to infoRetail. “We’d like to take our know-how in football and export it to other sports, and so this December we will be opening Basket Emotion” – a new concept designed around basketball. “Our objective is to diversify the business, and to that end we are creating the holding company Sport Emotion.”
At present the company operates 20 stores in Spain (ten in shopping malls) and two in Portugal. According to Sánchez, a first Italian store in Milan will be opening in two months, with something in France to follow.
“We are not a retailer,” he said, “but a technology company,” with its sights set on the middle market in terms of price. Last year’s revenues amounted to €50 million.
