Gabriel Medina, the surfing world champion, has prolonged his relationship with Rip Curl. The 21 year-old joined the Rip Curl team when he was just 14. He went on to win the 2014 World Surf League, becoming the first-ever Brazilian men's world surfing champion and the youngest to win the title since Kelly Slater. Medina first came to prominence as a junior, winning the Rip Curl International Gromsearch Final and the WSL World Junior Title, and then qualifying for the men's World Tour. He burst onto the scene in 2011, winning two of the first four WSL World Tour events he contested.
