An increased number of trade shows were organized during the Berlin Fashion Week that took place from July 4-6, including a couple of children's wear shows, but only some of them dealt with sports brands. Visitor figures were not published. They were more than 200,000 at the winter edition of the show, which took place on Jan. 17-19.
Many exhibitors and visitors said that the shows were apparently quieter than at previous summer editions but they still gave them positive reviews. They were generally pleased with the quality of the visitors they had seen over the three days including buyers from online retailers, traditional department stores and independents.
Most exhibitors said that a lot of customers from the German market visited their stands, although a few had also seen buyers from other European countries and the U.S. Many international visitors from European countries, Russia, Asia and the U.S. came to the Bright action sports show, according to its organizers.
The shows that featured sporting goods brands were primarily Bright and Seek, but the Premium and Panorama shows also hosted a few.
About 1,800 brands presented their new collections at one of the shows that belong to the Premium Group – Premium, Show&Order, Seek and Bright - and 81 percent were from outside Germany and 30 percent newcomers. Sporting goods brands that exhibited at Bright, the leading European trade show for streetwear, sneakers and skateboarding that was acquired by the Premium Group in July 2015, included Vans, Heimplanet, Ecko, Element, Etnies, Forvert, Huf, Keen, New Balance, Numeri, Nikita and Volcom.
Visitors at the Arena Berlin fairgrounds were guided along a single path through both Bright and Seek, showcasing multiple sections with a joint presentation. Bright once again featured the outdoor segment in a project co-curated by Outdoor Aesthetics, an online platform for outdoor enthusiasts with films, photography and test reports, as well as the street'n'skate, accessories and urban segments. Brands that exhibited in the Outdoor Section at Bright included – among others – Heimplanet, Opinel, Danner, Maloja, Matador, Hippy Tree, Keen, Stay Hungry and Deejo.
About 250 brands, down from 280 brands this January, exhibited at the neighboring Seek trade show. Among others, the exhibitors included Adidas, K-Swiss, Helly Hansen, Fila, Champion, Hummel, Ellesse, Hi-Tec, Kappa, Russell Athletic, Puma, Solovair, The North Face, Teva and Wesc.
Panorama, the fashion show held at the Berlin Expo Center, welcomed brands like Bench, Chiemsee and Didriksons.
Desigual Sport, Alchemy Equipment, Barts, Bogner, Colmar, Dolomite, Jack Wolfskin Tech Lab and Sportalm showed their new collections for spring/summer 2018 at the Premium fashion fair, which took place at Station-Berlin.
Premium also hosted the eighth edition of FashionTech Berlin, a format combining conferences and an interactive exhibition on the topic of the digitalization of fashion for the benefit of retailers, fashion industry insiders, designers and other experts from the tech sector and the start-up scene. Conferences were held on e-commerce, digital marketing and communication as well as wearables and smart textiles.
For the first time, the Premium Group put out a joint brand catalog for all of its shows. The organizers of Premium offered once again a joint ticketing system for Premium, Bright, Seek, Show&Order and FashionTech Berlin, simplifying attendance and drawing the events closer together. The next winter edition will take place on Jan. 16-18.
