Giant was named as the winner of the Profitability Award in the Bike category at the latest Interbike Awards ceremony, which was held in Las Vegas on Sept. 22. The winner of the Profitability Award is chosen by the National Bicycle Dealer Association (NBDA) based on a range of parameters including inventory turns and profit margins, among others. Data, surveys and interviews were collected between December 2015 and July 2016. The other nominees for the award this year were Cannondale, Specialized, Electra, and Trek. Trek was named as the Brand of the Year, beating the other nominees, which included Cannondale, Giant, QBP and Specialized. The Brand of the Year award is based on elements such as profitability, support of independent bike dealers (IBDs) and the consumer's satisfaction. Cannondale won the Service Award, where the other nominees included Accell, QBP, Specialized and Trek. The Service Award measures a brand's or distributor's product availability, order management, shipping speed and quality, and return acceptance, among other parameters.
