Gigasport, the Austrian sporting goods retail chain, is said to be pulling out of Slovenia, closing its three stores in Ljubljana, Maribor and Celje in the summer. Slovenia is the last foreign market for the Austrian retailer which left the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 2012. In Austria, this subsidiary of the Kastner + Öhler department store company currently operates 16 large physical stores plus an online shop which was launched this month. Kastner + Öhler only runs one foreign department store, which is located in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana. The sports stores in the former Yugoslavia reportedly made a loss of €2 million last year.
