Accelerating its international franchising program, the French Go Sport group has signed an agreement with an Indian retailer, the Lulu Group, to open up to 40 generalist Go Sport stores and 40 more specialized Courir stores in the country by 2023. The first one should go on stream during the first quarter of 2019.
Go Sport will make its first move in Asia this year with a store in Manila. It is also planning to enter the Spanish market in the course of 2018 with four Courir sports shoe stores in Madrid and Barcelona. The French sports retailer is targeting a network of 40 stores in Spain over the next five years.
In the past year, franchisees opened a total of 17 stores in various countries outside France under the company's two banners, including the biggest Go Sport store in Africa. It was opened by Mercure International in Casablanca's Morocco Mall, spanning over 2,100 square meters.
As of now, the group has 45 franchised stores outside France under the Go Sport banner and 23 under the Courir banner. In Poland, it managed directly 32 Go Sport stores and one Courir shop. They should be followed by two new Go Sport stores and three Courir shops in the course of this year.
