Golf Datatech, the Florida-based market research company, and Yano Research Institute of Japan have announced a strategic alliance aimed at aggregating consistent data on the golf industry worldwide. The alliance will release a “US/Japan Golf Market Report” in January 2014, which will compare the relative size and scope of the U.S. and Japanese golf markets, as well as their relationship to the world's marketplace. The U.S. and Japan reign as the world's #1 and #2 golf markets, respectively. The report will be introduced at the next PGA International Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, in January 2014. The two companies said that according to their estimates, their current combined data cover nearly 70 percent of global golf equipment and apparel sales. Golf's introduction into the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil will further spark interest in the game internationally.
