The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has announced Google as the first-ever global partner of Women’s Basketball and the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. The partnership will debut with the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Sydney on Sep. 22, where the technology giant will be the exclusive presenter of the All-Star 5, which recognizes the best players of the tournament. In addition, FIBA and Google will collaborate with ESPN to distribute the entire Women’s World Cup. For the past two seasons, Google has been a Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Changemaker, a partner to the WNBA with a mission to improve coverage and awareness of the league.
