Great Britain remains easily the largest market for football replica shirts in Europe with annual sales of around £250 million, according to the NPD Group's consumer data. The country retains the lead despite soaring sales in Germany, where the size of the replica market roughly doubled last year on the back of strong performances by both the national teams and Bundesliga teams. The replica market in Great Britain is more than twice the size of Germany's and it amounts to about 57 percent of sales in the five largest European sports markets (France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain). For the second time in three years, none of the Premier League teams made it to the quarter finals of the Champion's League, and England's national team failed to progress past the group stage at the 2014 World Cup, but the popularity of the Premier League supported the strength of the British market. NPD found that the average replica shirt in Great Britain costs £30, compared to £43 in Germany.
