Grey and wet winter weather resulted in a small decline of 0.58 percent in sporting goods retail sales in Norway in the first quarter of 2014, despite a record month in January, according to Sportsbransjen. As reported by a Norwegian newspaper, DN, XXL was a clear winner with an increase in sales of 23 percent during the quarter. When removing XXL from the picture, the rest of the sporting goods retail sector suffered a first-quarter decline of 7.3 percent.
