Harm Ohlmeyer, the chief operating officer for e-commerce at Adidas Group, has been named chief e-commerce officer, to start on April 1. Online retail has been named as a priority for the company. Ohlmeyer, 42, will report directly to Herbert Hainer, chief executive of the group, taking on the responsibility for this sector from Christophe Bezu, who is returning from Asia to Europe with his family to head up the global wholesale business for Esprit. Bezu has spent 20 years in Asia, playing key roles for Adidas in the transition from Descente in Japan and in building up the group's operations in the continent. Ohlmeyer has been with Adidas since 1998, and he was appointed COO last July. His previous leadership positions inside the group have included those of chief financial officer for TaylorMade-Adidas Golf and for the Adidas brand, as well as senior vice president of global sales.
