Hervis Sport became on March 17 the second sporting goods retailer to sell over the internet in the Czech Republic after Sportissimo, which began in 2009, and it wants to become the biggest one on the web by 2012. The Austrian company plans to sell mainly medium and higher-priced products through its website, including some items that are actually being offered solely online. Hervis plans to start selling online in Slovenia as well in several weeks' time, according to a company official. Hervis entered the Czech market in 2002, currently employing approximately 200 people and running 24 stores in the country. It is also active in Croatia, Hungary, Romania and Slovenia. It has no plans for the moment in Slovakia.
