Holger Bismann passed away in a hospital near Munich a few days ago at the age of 50 years, after fighting cancer for several months in different ways, notably by taking long bicycle rides and through a positive attitude. He had been the general manager of Patagonia Europe and the president of the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) since December 2008. A native of East Germany, he had previously worked for Nike and Nike ACG for 13 years. Andrea Tomasini, manager of Patagonia Italia, will occupy Bismann's position on a interim basis, aided by Jonathan Petty, the European marketing manager based at the European office in Annecy, France.
