Innovex Golf reached a deal to buy Rife Putters earlier this month for an undisclosed amount. Rife has been looking for funding to help it expand in the last year or so, so the acquisition could give it a new start. It used to be the No. 1 putter on the Champions Tour, and hopes to retake the position with the help of its new line of putters, Tropical. Innovex Golf, which makes the E-Motion and V-Motion golf balls, and Rife Putter will be marketed separately, but with cross-promotions at retail and at wholesale. Jim Barfield, the former chairman of Rife Putters, will stay on in the new structure as head of tour operations.
