The General Assembly of the International Padel Federation (FIP), the world’s governing body of padel, which met in Rome on April 28, voted 14 new national federations into FIP’s membership. The new members represent and are responsible for padel in the following countries: Albania, Bahrain, Croatia, El Salvador, Israel, Kuwait, Lebanon, Maldives, New Zealand, Oman, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, and Vatican City. All national federations affiliated with FIP from across the globe attended or were represented at the meeting. The 14 new members bring the total number of national federations that are now represented within FIP to 65. In addition, the process for affiliation of 19 more national federations responsible for padel in other countries around the world was initiated. These additional federations are expected to formally join FIP in the autumn. Finally, it was announced that the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has created a dedicated task force to work with FIP to move towards the inclusion of padel in the Asian Games. Meanwhile, padel will make its first appearance in the European Games in Poland in 2023.
