Intersport Austria continues to perform well, reporting a 10 percent increase in sales for the first half of its financial year through to the end of March. As in the past year, it was probably aided by ongoing problems at Sport Eybl under the ownership of Sports Direct International. Aside from higher sales of fan shirts in view of the European football championships, there were increases of up to 16 percent in winter clothing and 20 percent for hiking and climbing products, led by apparel. The number of affiliated stores grew last year by 15 to 267. A further ten are in the pipeline.
