In its Sport Report 2022, Intersport Austria surveyed 1,350 Austrians between the ages of 16 and 69 about their sports habits, the importance of shared sports experiences in the family and their mental and physical fitness. The result of the study: 94 percent already recognize the importance of sports at a young age, but only one in two frequently exercise with their children. This is one of the key findings of this year’s Sports Report. The fact is that awareness of the importance of sports and exercise is there from a young age; practical implementation is lacking.

According to the survey, Austrians are average athletes. 71 percent say they are very or somewhat interested in sports, and 73 percent put this into practice and exercise at least once a week. One in six (15 percent) exercise five times a week or more, and 40 percent exercise two to four times a week. However, there is a slight trend towards more sports: In the Intersport Sport Report 2019 survey, as many as 67 percent of Austrians said they do sports at least once a week.
