Intersport Danmark stands to lose around 20 percent of its turnover due to the expected pull-out at the end of this year of Sport 2010, a big chain of 14 stores that resulted from the recent merger of three retail members last year. It is leaving the voluntary group because it lost an aribitration case over its opening of an outlet store in the neighborhood of one Intersport's members in the spring of 2010, against the guidelines of the cooperative. A judicial arbitrator rejected its argument that the guidelines were anti-competitive and said that Sport 2010 would have to pay a fine to Ingtersport DK and pay the legal costs. Intersport DK plans to take measures to offset the expected loss of turnover but its management is not overly concerned as the number of the affiliated stores grew in the last 12 months by more than 14, reaching a total of 95 doors run by more than 150 retail members.
