Intersport France increased sales by 7.2 percent in 2010 to €1.232 billion, including VAT and the results of the affiliated Belgian stores. Comparable store sales rose by 5.1 percent, indicating a better performance than its main competitors in the French market.

During the year, the group opened 27 stores, bringing the total to 575 at the end of December. The tally includes 193 Intersport mountain shops and 325 Intersport off-mountain units. The group plans to open 32 more stores in 2011, adding 42,000 square meters in floor space and hiring some 600 people. The network's expansion is part of a three-year plan to open 90 stores by the end of 2012, representing 180,000 square meters of floor space and 2,000 jobs.

As part of its efforts to be more competitive, Intersport is seeking to reinforce its partnership with leading brands, improve the sourcing and the range of its entry price products, and enhance the organization of its purchasing center.
