Intersport UK has implemented supply chain adjustments that have enabled it to drastically reduce delivery times, Sports Insight reports. Without access to the inventory, retail members previously had to call for replenishment. To get the changes started, seven points of sale were integrated with the central inventory. The buying group boasted that replenishment times would be reduced from about 14 to just three days, while order accuracy was improved, as well as fulfilment costs from warehouse to stores. Intersport UK intends to have 30 stores integrated into the system by the end of the year. Separately, changes are afoot for the Intersport Sporting Pro stores that were opened by Matalan, a big chain of cheap clothing stores, in partnership with Intersport. Tom Knight, who led the project started at Matalan three years ago, is no longer with the company. Further details in the next issue of SGI Europe.
