JD Pro, the new performance-oriented chain of sporting goods stores being launched by JD Sports Fashion, is not going to work with Intersport International on branding, private label or exclusive products. Negotiations were held in the past few weeks to no avail. Intersport officials declined to comment, but it would seem that the talks failed because JD is running into stronger competition with Intersport, particularly after the latter's acquisition of The Athlete's Foot, because of its growing internationalization strategy. Besides, JD Pro is also going to be a competitor of DW Sports, whose stores have been rebranded as Intersport DW. JD Pro, which opened its first test store on Bow Lane in London in November, is going to work with Intersport U.K. on centralized settlements of invoices, however.
