John Jansen, who runs Keen Footwear's European operations, was voted in as the new president of the European Outdoor Group (EOG) at the OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen last week, taking the place of Rolf Schmid, president of the Mammut Sports Group. The EOG will also have a new vice president, Jean-Marc Pambet, replacing Bernd Kuhlmann, the former chief executive of Deuter. Three new members were also elected to the EOG board. Antje von Dewitz, chief executive of Vaude, will be the first female board member. Another new member of the board, Rainer Angstl of the Sport Schuster store in Munich, is the first one from the retail sector. The third new board member is Stefan Merkt of Mammut. In its quest for more representation from the retail sector, the EOG has admitted the two biggest integrated outdoor retail chains in Europe, the AS Adventure Group and Globetrotter, as new members of the organization. The EOG has ended up with 75 full members and ten associate members. More in the next issue of The Outdoor Industry Compass, which will feature many exclusive stories from the OutDoor show as well as Asia Outdoor in Nanjing.
