Just as the NBA season is winding up, Adidas has unveiled its newest, lightest basketball shoe, the adiZero Crazy Light. Pros Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard will be wearing the shoe for the playoffs, and it will be available at retail on June 3. It will come in four colorways (bright blue, red, black and gray) at first, with six more planned for September. The retail price is $130. Adidas says that the Crazy Light is the lightest shoe in its category, weighing in at 9.8 ounces (277.8 grams), 15 percent lighter than its nearest competitor. The light weight is expected to be a selling point for 14- to 19-year-olds. It has a Sprintweb exoskeleton upper less than 1 mm thick that is seamlessly bonded to a nylon textile base to reduce weight and provide increased support and strength. The Sprintframe external heel counter and Torsion System are bonded together to allow maximum weight reduction, energy return and motion control.
