Kalenji, the exclusive sports footwear brand of Décathlon and the Oxylane group, has signed a four-year sponsorship deal with a French athlete, Benjamin Malaty, which took effect on Jan. 1. The 26-year-old runner, who will also help in product development, is due to represent Kalenji in the Prom'Classic race in Nice, scheduled for Jan. 6, as well as at the Paris Marathon on April 7. Malaty was the first French athlete in the final ranking at the 2012 Paris Marathon. He is aiming to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Kalenji's team of sponsored athletes already includes Stéphane Diagana, a former world athletics champion from France, who is participating in the development of Oxylane's Kiprun shoe range. Thierry Breuil, another French runner, is set to join the same team as product manager in early 2013.
