Kim Scholze has been appointed to Sympatex’s executive board, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2023. As chief sales and marketing officer (CSMO), she will be responsible for Sympatex’s global sales and marketing strategy. The division of the management board in this form is a novelty at Sympatex.

Scholze joined the company in early 2021 as chief sustainable community manager and head of storytelling, a position that was also new to Sympatex at the time. Prior to that, she spent five years strategically building the outdoor segment for ISPO at Messe München and has nearly 30 years of industry experience in strategy, marketing, development and sales.

Dr. Rüdiger Fox, CEO of Sympatex, will remain on the management board, with a particular focus on new technologies and restructuring the supply chain toward a consistent circular economy. Scholze joins Fox as managing director with immediate effect, and her main duties and responsibilities are sales and marketing.

“I started about six years ago with the ambition to make consistent sustainability a non-negotiable board topic in our industry,” Fox said. “In recent months, fundamental progress has been made on this front: A consistent ban on fluorochemicals is now unstoppable worldwide. And the EU has set all the courses to force our industry into a circular economy model. The latter will only work together across competitive boundaries. Kim Scholze has already credibly demonstrated in the past that she is the best person to orchestrate such a process and adequately embody our role in it. For that, I am happy to step aside.”

Sympatex has been shaping its products towards “closing-the-loop” for many years, communicating this, spreading information and knowledge and having a strong desire to cooperate rather than investing in pure marketing campaigns. In order to achieve a positive shift towards alternative, sustainable technologies, materials, etc., Sympatex primarily promotes collaboration with stakeholders from across the industry. The company’s management board said it sees a lot of untapped potential and enormous value in designing attractive and regenerative solutions.
