Lacoste has acquired all the assets of the family-owned Basi Group, which has been its Spanish licensee since 1962. The move was described as part of the brand's “premiumization strategy.” The brand has about 100 directly operated stores, franchises, factory outlets and shop-in-shops in the country. In addition to Lacoste, the Basi Group distributes the products of Cole Haan and Nautica in Spain. For 30 years it has also been selling its own brand of apparel and accessories, Armand Basi, named after the designer who co-founded the group in 1924.
