Led by its ski maintenance and ski-boot fitting equipment, Wintersteiger's revenues in the sports sector grew by 5 percent to more than €60 million last year, in spite of a stagnating snow sports market in the Alps and North America, leading to higher profits in the segment. The development of its business was particularly positive in Italy, Switzerland and the U.S. The total sales of the Austrian group grew slightly to €140.6 million from €138.9 million in the previous year, but they generated a 33 percent increase in pre-tax profit to €6 million. The company invested 8 percent of sales on R&D. The management predicts further increases in sales and profits for this year.
