The ATP and WTA have announced that the United Cup, a new mixed teams event, will launch the 2023 tennis season in Australia. The event, presented in partnership with Tennis Australia, will showcase teams from 18 countries, with the best men’s and women’s players competing together. The matches will take place across Brisbane, Perth and Sydney from Dec. 29, 2022, to Jan. 8, 2023. Each city will host two groups of three countries competing in a round-robin format. Ties will comprise two ATP, two WTA singles, and one mixed double match. The winner of each city final will advance to the United Cup Final Four in Sydney, scheduled for Jan. 6-8. The United Cup has US$15 million in prize money and rankings points at stake.
