Elizabeth Clark is the first woman to have been appointed as president and CEO of IHRSA, the leading fitness industry association born 40 years ago whose full name is International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association. On Aug. 16, she will take the place of an interim president and CEO, Brent Darden, an industry veteran who was appointed by the board last August to succeed Joe Moore after 15 years in the post. Clark has been in charge of advocacy and government relations since 2011 at the U.S. National Confectioners Association (NCA), which represents the $44 billion candy industry in the U.S. One of her accomplishments was the recognition given to the industry by the U.S. Administration as an “essential” service during the recent pandemic. Before her lobbying work at the NCA, she served as an executive director at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
