The Spanish Association of Sporting Goods Manufacturers and Distributors, Afydad, has joined the Spanish Fashion Confederation, Confederación ModaEspaña. Founded in 2013, ModaEspaña includes in its ranks other Spanish trade associations such as Fedecon, AEGP, Asefma, Acme, Acotex, SFA, Regalo Fama, AEDM, Asirtex, APBE, AMSE and Asepri. The move reflects the melting over the past few years of fashion and sportswear into increasing varieties of athleisure. Afydad cites in particular x-wear, sportstyle, sport lifestyle and lifestyle. There is, it believes, an “evident tendency” among consumers to enjoy the comfort of sportswear not just for sport but also in daily life. The lockdowns, of course, have only strengthened the tendency, and manufacturers have broadened their selections accordingly. The next steps, says Afydad, are to complete the fashion sector’s unification, repositioning the “Spain brand” within it and working toward a general re-industrialization of the Spanish sports and fashion sector.
