England Golf will receive an investment of £7.97 million (€9.52m) of government and National Lottery funding from Sport England over the next five years, which England Golf and Sport England will use to work in partnership to tackle inequalities in the game. The investment is part of Sport England’s new funding model. More than £193 million (€230.5 million) is being invested by Sport England with 43 partners, including England Golf, which will receive funding for up to five years. Sport England selected partner organizations in connection with their ability to influence positive change and improvement through their network and throughout the sector. Funding was indeed made available to England Golf because the sport governing body “has committed to co-deliver change at a national and local level, to help more people enjoy the benefits of playing sport and being active,” said England Golf in its web release. Efforts to tackle inequality in sports are still needed as some groups are typically less active, like women, disabled people, people with long-term health conditions, lower socio-economic groups, or people from ethnically diverse communities.
