The Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI) has launched a joint initiative, called the FESI Winter Sport Sustainability Network (FESI-WSN), to “increase the knowledge and cooperation on sustainability and circularity within the winter sports Industry.” The network will be holding four annual meetings, with roundtable discussions involving industry experts, and setting up projects in which members can collaborate on such related issues as circularity, end-of-life and environmental footprinting tools.
“To remain competitive and make a positive contribution to the warming threat, the [winter sports] industry must respond in a unified and coordinated way,” says FESI’s general secretary, Jérôme Pero. René Harrer, sales and marketing director at Head Ski and leader of the FESI Winter Sports Task Force, adds: “Sustainability isn’t about competing; it’s about working and innovating together to faster find new solutions to our common challenges.” FESI-WSN’s founding members are: Atomic, Elan, Fischer, MDV, Tyrolia, Head, K2 and (the network’s coordinator) Peak 63.
