France’s ministers of labor, sports, and education and vocational training – Olivier Dussopt, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra and Carole Grandjean – have signed a roadmap document to accelerate professional integration through sport. Sport currently represents 448,000 jobs in France, namely 2.2 percent of the country’s overall salaried workforce. It is also a dynamic sector, which posts an average annual growth of 3 percent. However, many sport-related jobs are either temporary or part-time. The roadmap document focuses on five main axes: improving the training offer to facilitate access to work, particularly in shortage professions; securing professional trajectories; strengthening the social role of the sports industry players, with initiatives like “Du stade vers l’emploi” (from the stadium to employment); the validation of skills and experience, including for volunteers; and the professional retraining of former athletes. A dedicated forum about these five axes is scheduled for the first half of 2023.
