The executive board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has repeatedly reiterated that the IOC strongly condemns and supports the breach of the Olympic Truce by the Russian and Belarusian governments. The relevant UN resolution was adopted by the UN General Assembly on Dec. 2, 2021 by consensus of all 193 UN member states. The Olympic Truce began seven days before the start of the Olympic Games, on Feb. 4, 2022, and will end seven days after the end of the Paralympic Games.

The IOC executive board also calls for no Russian or Belarusian national flag to be displayed and no Russian or Belarusian anthem to be played at international sporting events that are not already part of the respective World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sanctions against Russia. At the same time, the IOC executive board expresses its full support for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for the upcoming 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing.
