The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed that the first Olympic Esports Week will be held in Singapore from June 22-25, 2023. The announcement is the next major step in supporting the development of virtual sports within the Olympic Movement and deepening collaboration with competitive gamers. In partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth Affairs, Sports Singapore, and the Singapore National Olympic Committee (SNOC), the Olympic Esports Week will showcase the best of virtual sports – hybrid physical and simulated sports – over the four-day festival including the exhibition of the latest technologies, panel discussions, educational events and show matches.
The highlight of the week would be the first live finals of the Olympic Esports Series, a global virtual and simulated sports competition developed in partnership with the international federations and building on the success of last year’s Olympic Virtual Series. The 2021 series attracted more than 250,000 participants from more than 100 countries who competed in virtual and simulated sports, including baseball, motorsports, cycling, rowing and sailing.
Details, including how to participate in the first Olympic Esports Week and the Olympic Esports Series, will be announced in early 2023.
