The Organizing Committees for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games and the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games have announced a collaboration agreement aimed at encouraging joint initiatives and activities toward more sustainable and innovative Games in 2024 and 2026. The agreement was signed by Paris 2024’s president, Tony Estanguet, and Milano Cortina 2026’s president, Giovanni Malagò, at a ceremony at Club France in Tokyo. The agreement identifies four areas of action including: knowledge-sharing and joint actions, for example with joint public engagement activations; collaboration on human resources, for example with secondment and volunteering opportunities; resource-sharing, for example on technology, sports equipment and infrastructure that may be compatible for both events; and joint communication and advocacy for the social, economic and environmental impact of the respective events. The agreement aligns with the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Olympic Agenda 2020+5, which encourages greater collaboration between stakeholders of the Games.
