Leif Holst-Liæker has resigned as chief executive at Bergans of Norway over disagreements with the board regarding the implementation of far-reaching strategic changes at the Norwegian outdoor brand. Holst-Liæker formally joined Bergans in December 2015, taking over the leadership from Ragnar Jensen, who retired after many years at the helm. As previously reported in our Outdoor Industry Compass, the former Viking chief started by implementing structural changes leading to the closure of subsidiaries in the U.S., the U.K. and France, while its Russian joint venture was turned into a distribution agreement. Bergans went on to invest in its management, branding, international development and digital strategy (more in The Oudoor Industry Compass).
