Lids, the U.S. sportswear retailer headquartered in Indianapolis, is expanding into Germany with the opening of 20 stores. The first three locations will open in Berlin in the coming weeks. Alexa Berlin is set to open on June 17, followed by Mall of Berlin on June 24 and Eastgate Berlin on July 1. Openings in Bremen, Dresden, Hamburg and other cities will follow. Each new store will sell a wide range of U.S. league team products from Major League Baseball (MLB), National Football League (NFL), and National Basketball Association (NBA), among others. In addition, each new store will feature Lids’ signature Custom Zones, where consumers have the opportunity to custom embroider an apparel piece or hat of their choice in-store. Lids entered the European market in December 2021 by opening its first four stores in England, in London’s metropolitan area. The retailer currently operates nearly 1,200 stores throughout the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico and England, including through concessions at DSW and Macy’s.
