Life Fitness and other elements of Brunswick Corporation's fitness unit suffered a 3 percent decline in revenues to $151.9 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 29, as increases in sales to health clubs and to consumers in North America were offset by a drop of 4 percent in the rest of the world, with declines in other markets and in sales to foreign distributors. Nevertheless, the division's operating profit inched up by 2 percent to $23.1 million. In Brunswick's billiards segment, operating earnings improved by 14 percent to $3.2 million in spite of a 6 percent sales drop to $74.5 million, driven by a decline of 19 percent in foreign markets.
