Macron will replace Adidas as the kit sponsor of Real Sociedad, the Spanish football club based in San Sebastián, in the Basque region. The club competes in La Liga, Spain's top football league. Based in Bologna, Italy, Macron is currently the technical sponsor of several European teams, including Crystal Palace and Stoke City in the English Premier League, Italy's Bologna, Lazio, and Cagliari, and Sporting Lisbon in Portugal, among others. Adidas has been Real Sociedad's kit sponsor since 2014, but is not extending its contract beyond the end of the 2017/18 season. The deal with Macron covers three seasons, from 2018/19 to 2020/21. Real Sociedad was founded in 1909. The club won the Liga title in 1908/81 and 1981/82. It has also won the Copa del Rey twice, in 1909 and 1987.
