The global market for rugged outdoor footwear grew at about the same rate as the athletic footwear market in 2019. However, it would have risen by only 4.7 percent without the ongoing strong progress of Hoka One One, driven by its diversification from trail running into road running. Double-digit increases were also posted by the Columbia Sportswear group and four Italian brands – La Sportiva, Scarpa, Garmont and Aku. La Sportiva and Scarpa benefitted from the ongoing ascent of the climbing market. The Wolverine Worldwide group continued to lead the market with a share of 17.1 percent.
