Italy is second in Europe (after Spain) regarding the number of padel courts and participants, the International Padel Federation (IPF) said in a statement. The country experienced an increase of 16 percent in facilities (sports clubs, padel clubs, accommodation facilities) in the first nine months of 2023 compared to 2022 – from 2,792 to 3,250 facilities. According to data from Osservatorio Mr Padel Paddle, there was a 20 percent increase in playing courts, totaling 8,520 courts (+1,392) compared to 7,128 at the end of 2022. The regions with the highest number of courts and facilities are Lazio (1,855 courts and 559 facilities), Lombardy (1,149 courts and 373 facilities) and Sicily (802 courts and 309 facilities). In Sardinia, which features 336 courts spread across 144 facilities, the increase in padel clubs compared to 2022 was 23 percent higher than the national average.
