Marzio Brombal, who was for many years the chief executive of Diadora, passed away on April 7 at the age of 71, due to a heart attack, while he was watching a football game in which his son was playing. He had founded a distribution company, Sportlab, in 2000 which took on board Saucony, followed by Admiral, Sugoi and some casual footwear brands like EMU Australia. Earlier this month, Sportlab was acquired by Wolverine Worldwide (see the related article in this issue). Among other activities, in 2012 he took over a local football club, Calcio Montebelluna 1919, which was on the verge of bankruptcy. More than a thousand people attended his funeral.
